Paediatric nurse and mother of two. I read the safety notices so you do not have to, and I will tell you when the expensive one is not safer, only dearer.
How Priya judges
Safety comes first and it is not close — with car seats and anything an infant uses, I start with the standards met and the crash data, then look at how easy the thing is to use correctly, because a seat installed wrong is a seat that does not work. For formula I weigh nutrition and how babies actually tolerate it above brand and above price. Parents report the things that matter here better than any specification does: reflux, settling, whether a strap adjuster is usable one-handed at four in the morning. I discount marketing language about closeness to breast milk entirely.
