American Review Center

About American Review Center

American Review Center publishes hands-on product reviews written by people who know their category inside-out. Every product earns a rating across the criteria that decide whether it was worth buying, every rating is published with the reasoning behind it, and our Best Of rankings are built straight from those scores.

How we review products

Every review follows the same four steps, so two products in the same category are always judged on the same terms.

  1. An expert reviewer takes it on

Reviewers are approved by hand and publish under their own name. Each one has a profile listing the categories they cover and everything they have written, so you can always see who is behind a verdict and what else they have judged.

  2. The product is scored, criterion by criterion

Each product is rated out of five across several named criteria — build quality, sound, battery life, whatever the category turns on. Every one of those ratings is published with the reasoning that produced it, so you can see exactly how a score was reached and weigh the criteria that matter most to you.

  3. Buyers' questions get answered

Every review closes with the specific things people want to know before they spend the money, answered directly by the reviewer who did the work.

  4. The rankings follow the scores

Our Best Of guides are ordered by the ratings our reviewers gave. Every new review feeds straight into them, so the rankings stay current as the category moves.

How we're funded

American Review Center is reader-supported. When you buy through a link in one of our reviews, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you, and as an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. That support is what pays for the hands-on work behind every review on the site, and we're grateful for it.
